Thousands of activists of Takam Mising Mime Kebang staged
demonstration yesterday at Sadiya, Jonai, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Gohpur, Majuli and Bokakhat demanding proper implementation of the two Central Govt. schemes - ICDS and NRHM in Assam most backward and worst flood affected Mising inhabited areas. It is to be mentioned here that the
Anganwadi Centres falling under Mising Autonomous Council area have not received any supplementary food during 2009-10 for reasons best understood to the Govt. After dissolution of the MAC interim body, Assam Govt. appointed administrator - Commissioner of North Assam Division and the WPT&BC deptt of Assam Govt is running the affairs of
MAC. Later, TMMK delegation submitted Memorandum to the Chief Minister through the respective DC/SDO.
At Sadiya, a group of non-tribal youths tried to stop the TMMK processionist on gound that "Sadiya should not be included in MAC" and therefore Misings should not take out any procession at Sadiya.Fact remains that only Amarpur Gaon Panchayat and a part of Buraburi and Shantipur panchayat fall in MAC's notified village list - not Sadiya
sub-division. However TMMK managed to reach SDO office and submitted their memorandum peacefully.

It is sad to see Mising people having to carry out such demonstration in order get government scheme implemented which is rightfully and by default be implemented.
Most probably, we Misings lack any any pressure groups, the Mising officers at government posts should have been helping implementing these schemes.
