As Assam assembly election is drawing near, I thought, I would share few political discussions I had recently in Mising areas.

One important observation by almost all Mising people I met, was While Bodos have almost 15 assembly seats in Assam, Misings can win paltry 4 seats. They are

1. Jonai
2. Dhemaji
3. Dhakuakhana
4. Majuli

Incidentally, all are reserved seats as well as comes under Lakhimpur Lok Sabha constituency. Nowboicha is another seat where Mising could win! Apart from these four seats, it is difficult for any Misings to win assembly election in Assam depending on Mising votes.

But if Misings are united, then Misings can be formidable votebank in Gahpur, North Lakhimpur, Sadia, Jorhat and Dergaon.

Another interesting poll related topic discussed is, many Misings people have vast land, but they do not have any 'myadi patta'. And very few people were aware of benefit of having having 'Myadi Patta' for getting government loans as well as other benefits. And many opined that Misings should vote for a party which offers help in getting 'Myadi Patta' Misings. I totally agree on this. Most probably, this will be very beneficial for Misings in future.

- to be continued.

YES, misings have to be united in not only the aforementioned constituencies where they are in minority but also in stronghold areas. The motive behind uniting our people should not only be for political gains but also for lasting economic and cultural stability.I believe mising people can do away with age old practice of backbiting (which we learnt from other indian cultures) and can really unite for a better future. As far as spreading awareness is concerned, though i am not an eternal optimist but i firmly believe, even if one person shares this to another single person surprising results can be obtained.

Yes...the people should be awaken first..only a limited no. of Mising people know the benefit of myadi..this should be made a strong issue in the coming election by Misings..
Another constituency where Mising can win if united is Bokakhat.. Mising and Tea tribes should join hands to end the tyrannic rule of Jiten Gogoi.
