An independent study conducted in the early part of 21st century shows that Misings are in deep identity crisis in Arunachal Pradesh .One of the Mising sub-groups -Somuwa- mentioned in most of the writings by scholars like Prof Tabu Taid,Prof Nahendra Padun,Peter Pegu, Dr J.J.Kuli-have now switched the identity to Adi tribe.They are now known as Adi Somuwa.
